What a fantastic announcement. An extension of relationships with global content giants is always welcome, but exclusivity and co-production makes this a very special announcement.
This is in keeping with my increasing sense, over the last few months (as I've been learning more about global media dynamics), that the global streaming wars are starting to come to some kind of denouement.
The sense of going head-to-head, in a DTC war with Netflix, whilst traditional incumbents still command a great volume of eyeballs, was always going to have limits. We can be sure that if even Warner, the world's 3rd biggest gorilla, is coming to its senses, that it's only a sign of more to come.
