Pity they even considered it IMO and got caught out by the media for not letting shareholders know. I give them the benefit of the doubt this time, they screwed up, got caught out, but listened to shareholders and dumped this stupid idea before it turned into a complete disaster. Write that up in the 'Lessons Learned' register and we'll be all good going forwards.

Your question of trust is exactly why they may fail to be re-elected come AGM time. Or worse, voted out.

You don't take lightly the fiduciary responsibility that comes as a director. They basically put their own interests (Empire building) ahead of the people who pay their salary.
