Of all of the companies I invest in (there are quite a number) I consider the G8 team to be one of the most competent and one of the most honest. They have always been up front with decisions and do the best by their clients first, which I believe will translate into professional success.
As others have said, a swipe at a minor miss on guidance at a time when COVID meant forecasting was so difficult for many companies guidance was withdrawn or withheld. We were fortunate to be so close to the money with the G8 guidance - a tough time for childcare centers when large parts of the country were and in some cases still are, either by order or choice, staying home.
With cash on the books, maybe Slater and Gordon mistook the funds intended for expansion post COVID as money the company was prepared to part with easily - you can be sure it isn't.
