There's heaps of geology all over the world like this... interesting anomalies found late in a commodity cycle and never followed up because of remoteness, lack of infrastructure vs more convenient targets, or even just forgotten in the archive. Many big "discoveries" were previously discovered and abandoned for a variety of reasons.
