yes it appears the market is not ascribing the full value to franking credits, but it's hard to tell what's best as there are too many variables, it all depends on how you value those franking credits versus your own CGT situation and where you hold those assets: own name, company, inside super, etc. e.g. if one had carried over lossses from prior years then could effectively sell tax free before ex div.

if you want to avail yourself to the 37 cents per share fully franked special from MLT then you have to hold until the scheme is implemented as i understand from the release MLT will be suspended prior or on the ex div date.
