One rationale is it increases liquidity of SOL shares, as the number of retail shareholders will significantly rise.
SOL also suggests it wants to increase holdings in unlisted companies, but given MLT is largely an investor in listed companies, I haven't got my head around how MLT minimises any capital gains tax payable on any listed companies it sells on or off-market.
