    Yes, they are different.

    I understand that government made a policy to keep onshore gas onshore. I don't know the reasoning or pressures leading to this decision, but it does give them tight control and that has to be good.

    But once made, consistency in its application should be rigidly applied. No more dispensation like that given to one major gas supplier in the Perth basin. IMO it was a spurious argument provided by the company, at best.

    And, I have seen no debriefing paper reporting on any benefits or otherwise from the decision, to date.

    With regard to offshore gas, I would expect strict government controls over the terms and conditions of any export (particularly long team) contracts to ensure long team domestic gas price and security of supply.
