If the logging definitively shows hydrocarbons at the test interval there could be a problem with the test.
I presume cement bond logs were run but there could be poor cement isolation behind the casing allowing formation water to be produced from deeper than the perorated interval. Formation damage during the long delay before testing may also prevent gas flow although this is usually in low permeability reservoir.

The announcement is not very informative and they're likely working hard to resolve the inconsistent results.
I wouldn't write it off yet

I've never owned STX but was just surprised by the result
