Chokdee - we're not idiots. We do our research. Yes big shareholders look after their interests - what else do you expect ? Most investors know Malawi is one of the least developed countries - no 51 out of 54 African countries by GDP per capita, 144 on a global basis. Sovereign (no pun intended) risk is obvious, and significant. However:
- the resource has massive scale and JORC imminent, the numbers work
- Sprott are v big players in the US - they like and have invested in this project
- anyone taking on this project will have to build infrastructure from the ground up, so if a few rails are missing that would be the least of the issues
- the big miners need to find ways to reduce their carbon footprint and are taking an interest
If you got burned before on dodgy African projects, bad luck. You're not the only one. You're right about the risks on this project but to me, for now and at this stage, the positives outweigh the negatives by a long way.
