The reason I care about the short term cash is because at least it may buy time for the company to secure the big investor without diminishing my funds in the meantime. The way I see it:
Scenario 1 - no short term cash
- my funds may be crunched very quickly - I could then maybe only make money if they get the big investor deal
Scenario 2 - short term cash secured
-regardless of whether or not they land the big investor deal immediately, my small investment might stay safe/steady for some time, then after a year or so if I don't think the big investor will come along, I could maybe get out without losing all my funds to cash raises/dilution.
