Imagine thinking "day traders" are to blame when you're talking about a stock that's selling off from match.
Tell me, how does a DAY TRADER sell a stock they don't have?
They need to BUY IT on the day in order to sell... So it zeroes out... Now who is actually selling? That should answer your question, and it's obviously not day traders because the stock isn't shortable.
