Wow. The $4.7 billion Grande Alliance plan looks like a fantastic asset for mining. It will take some time of course, but at the end of stage 2 Quebec will not only end up with a major highway that connects to the Trans-Taiga, but a new railway corridor following, as much as possible, the alignment of the Billy-Diamond Highway between km 257 (Rupert River bridge) to km 544 (Junction of Billy-Diamond Highway and Trans-Taïga road).
Plus in stage 3 (we are currently in stage 2) a deep-sea port is planned for Whapmagoostui, on the eastern edge of Hudson Bay, which will allow for larger barges to dock in the community. The importance of another deep-sea Hudson Bay port will be to facilitate shipping direct to Europe via the Atlantic Ocean.
I just cherry-picked a few items of interest but there is a lot more going on here.
