as the company advised, it is based on the amount of shares you had on the record date
if you held under a certain amount of shares, they gave you $2,000 worth
so if you held 500 shares at the record date or 10,000 shares, you still got $2,000 worth
they did not do a pro-rata or percentage allocation
this is the 2nd time this has happened to me recently
it appears they are using the same formula
