ruff,
If you read Houens statment, among other things he said:
"That's just one of the things that the landholders have to try to correct through the Land Court, so the landholders have been left to do the job that should've been done by the Environment Department and the Mines Department."
His statements sound to me like at least one of the objectors is objecting on PRINCIPLE and is not merely after more money. In this case, maybe no 'global warming' but on 'cropping land', which is exactly the same reason Newman inferred prior to any environmental due process!
If that is true : a principled objection it is reasonable to assume this case will be going to court.
So it is me who is making the assumption the parties wont reach agreement, or is it BND that are making the assumption they will?
Look at the share price, director lending, others shorting 'un-coverable amounts', reports of dire WICET outlook. Importantly due past statements I doubt there is any political will to let this progress and I agree with you that it places WICET in jeopardy. And BND is not the only company to be having these sorts of issues with permitting by the look of it. No wonder Glencore is trying to sell capacity. I see WICET are now looking for a full time corporate lawyer.
