The objections to the Wandoan coal mine was aimed at preventing the mine going ahead based on the risk of environmental damage due to increased carbon emissions. The objections in the springsure case appear to be focused on clarifications on the proposed mitigations to soil erosion etc. (dept of environ adds that mitigations are adequate - read petergms post for details). Not sure you can draw any direct parallels on how long it took to resolve one issue against the other.
