This had me as soon as Jude started discussing that the OEMS were after a higher voltage version of the S15.
"When we originally tried to do that electronic componentry wasn't even available to do that"
Speaking very generally from my own electronics experience, looking inside a TV, Computer, phone charger whatever the units dont run at mains voltage. Mains voltage is stepped down by a transformer in the power supply and converted to DC, and usually consumer electronics wont be any higher than 30vdc. Electronic components have ranges, anything you see in automotive will be rated to 25vdc or in 24v trucks you will see the components rated to 50vdc.
Using electrolytic capacitors as an example, your common off the shelf voltage tolerances are 10vdc, 16vdc, 25vdc, 35vdc, 50vdc, 63vdc, 100vdc, 125vdc up to 450vdc. Same deal with transistors and intergrated circuit chips. Once your above a 100vdc rating its becoming a specialised component, even more so as the voltage climbs.
The fact that Sprintex has "chased around the world"
and "worked out how we're gonna do that. We've got it done. We're pleased that we've already got it tested and validated the new 800v version"
They went out and found component suppliers and manufacturers that were able to supply what was needed to make the product that was being requested by the OEM. Thats a big tick for Sprintex in my book.
