The mediation process before you even get to court might mitigate a whole lot of wasted lawyers fees and give both parties quick closure for a smaller fee than a lengthy court battle. Settlement is not an admission of guilt - it is at times a way to move forward faster without wasting more resources.
Its like an ex going after you when you win the lotto and trying to take half your winnings, even if they get a tenth of the jackpot, it's more than they had before so why not have a go?!
