I feel that there are more bids to come on this now that all cards are on the table. There are other bidders out there analysing the offer today and thinking about whether they could make a higher price work for them. A well capitalised group like Varian coming to the market is a scary prospect for competitors.
Taking into account synergies, I recon Varian are paying a circa 9x EBITDA/EV multiple for a business with great growth prospects given the size of the market. (rough rough estimate)
Having said that its a good price on a standalone basis so I'm inclined to Derisk and sell half my shareholding, then ride out the storm to see what happens! Decisions decision!
