I think you are onto something here. Most people equate ETF with Cap weight indexing, however it is now possible to gain exposure to quality/value/size premiums very cheaply ; in the range of 30-40bps via alternative beta products. It makes it harder for a large cap active manager to regain FUM once it’s lost as there are now easily accessible, cheap products.
