It was clear from fund underperformance alone. You don't need to be in management at Macquarie or a financial journalist with connections across the industry to see that after 18 months of close to 20% underperformance against the index there is an extremely high risk of outflows and axing of investment mandates.
I wish I had acted sooner to simply move out entirely at around $45 where it was already very clear, but its easy to get overly attached or inclined to rationalise an investment.
