And paved roads, railways, democracy, ending wife burning and cannibalism, not to mention ending the oceanic slave trade in both West Africa and East., modern medicine, modern technology, communications, especially international, postal services, banking, chocolate, tea, coffee, an international language (English) facilitating trade, opening up of internal and international trade, etc etc but those are only minor of course....
