Ringing the company may soothe some individual nerves and allow people to feel closer the company.
But they are never going to say "we are going to release the announcement at 11 am on the 19th of August" for example. They will always speak in broad generalisations, and a lot of the info posters report back is often just as per company preso's or is readily available on-line.
