I just read an AFR article that suggested a plan maybe to move Rightmove's revenue model towards REA's.

REA charges based on listing and its a "dynamic" price.

Rightmove charges subscriptions to "members" (agents) and are charged flat fees per listing.

So yeh, I guess pushing price and making changes to how listing are charged could be the plan. Pretty big risk of backlash though...

As I said I dont think there are huge synergies on offer here, certianly not good ones that relate to revenue. Would just be a bit of cost out.

Rightmove has great financials, but acquirers usually overpay in these circumstances. The AFR also mentioned the possibility of an additional bidder for the company.

Takeovers also suck in the UK, I remember the Aristocrat one a while back. I beleive there is a rule that all financing etc has to sorted in order to make an offer. I understand this is good for vendors, but its a pain when it falls through and a dillutive equity raising has just been completed.
