Cheers mate, but I think that the merits of a merger would be there whatever the respective SPs might be from time to time. The $4.25 was a good headline and sparked a rally- but the figure was already out of date when the merger was leaked/announced. The thing to look for would be the respective percentage shares of the new merged entity. If the putative synergies stack up- take the offer.
And just quietly, South Australian Northern Territory Oil Search (SANTOS). They already had Oil Search in the title from the beginning and now they pretend that they only just thought of the merger. As if. And anyway, oil search, it suggests that no oil has been found yet. There will need to be a name change somewhere anyway.
