Good articles Peterpanned, though I would highlight that the first link on page 6 refers only to class 1B output from said treatment plants that may have been initiated before the latest 5 year plan. We know the five year plan mandates class 1A..... enter Fluence.
Class 1A vs 1B requires:
Half the amount of suspended solids,
Half the amount of phosphorus
Half the amount of biological oxygen demand
And 75% the amount of nitrogen.
Imagine cleaning your very dirty kitchen to a reasonably high standard (class 1B) then having to go over it again reaching into every last crevice you can find with the best cleaning products on the market (class 1A) - the effort is sizable.
Clearly I don't think we're being played, I just think the Chinese don't want to cut corners on what is an environment under enormous stress, and will do everything to get it right the first time around, which takes time.
