Hopefully the shortlist of treatment/mill sites should consider the following:
1. Granted existing Mining Lease already to shortcut all the permitting pain.
2. As above with a sufficient amount of room for additional tailings storage facilities
3. Must already have access to water from existing permitted bore fields
4. Must already have mains power or must already have easy access to existing diesel gensets and/or gas power
5. Must have some proximity to existing road network that can be upgraded.
6. Absolutely nothing that needs additional native title clearance because that is more delays.
7. Reasonable proximity to town or existing camp accommodation and airport would be good, not going to be economic if a new camp is required and especially not if a new airport is required.
8. Local pastoralist onboard regarding road upgrades, road train movement, fencing, compensation for loss of grazing areas etc, any non-cooperative or litigious pastoralist ruled out immediately. You don't need to spend 3-4 years in court getting the 'perfect/ ideal' site permitted if alternatives are available.
Given the large distances and infrastructure light nature of the region, there should only be a handful of existing options that have some or most of those things listed above, just need to price the construction of the missing pieces of stuff that is not there, and draw some big circles around the value of metals in the ground to minimise trucking distances and it should not take long.
