about 10 - 12 years ago i spoke with ian chalmers at a conference and the plan hasn't really changed in all of the intervening years - develop the gold project/s to fund the development of dubbo. sure management has changed, but the plan has largely stayed the same. investing in other companies projects is an interesting move, though it has worked for some companies and provided extra cashflow or capital growth to fund their own activities.
pure speculation, but maybe there is a buyer in the wings for dubbo so the company is actively building a portfolio of assets to pursue once dubbo is off the balance sheet and there is a massive cash balance???
