What is even more pertinent is that China is very quickly increasing the volume of car ownership from the current low base of 221 - so they are not only replacing old cars, but increasing the fleet. Most of the west has over 600 per person, and USA has 900 -again a large percentage needs to be replaced each year.

in low density areas - eg in the country - where people live in houses rather than apartments, they can easily charge their EV at home. If these people have two cars (and most do as I explained), and one is used only locally, then it would be good economic sense for that to be an EV. It is happening.
