Most of the charlatans making these forecasts are doing nothing but looking at the current trend and extrapolating. When oil was moving up towards $100, there were charlatans saying, "it could go as high as $150". Then when the trend is doing the reverse the just have a convenient bout of amnesia, dump their previous forecasts and now instead of saying "it could go as high as $150", it'll now be "it could go as low as $30." They might eventually get it right by completely fluking it and claiming nostradamus like status.
