I have worked both areas, I was onsite for 2 years 2011 to 2013 building ROM and rail mine to port for Gina’s Roy Hill mine which is 150km NNW of Newman, as you said without cyclones which are fairly few and far between zero rainfall and bloody hot. Captured 57deg in the shade with a calibrated digital thermometer so I can attest to it being bloody hot. Plenty of ambient heat on an IO mine tho!

I also spent nearly two years just prior to going to WA with Xstrata 140km north of Mt Isa on Lady Loretta, UG Zinc mine. Same up there over summer. I missed fly out roster once about 2 weeks before Christmas due to flooding and heavy rain and couldn’t get off site to travel to Mt Isa airport but floods dispersed and zero sign of any rains 2 weeks later. When it rains it rains hard.

I don’t see any issues drilling up to Christmas and beyond. If it does dump rain grounds might get a bit soft accessing our grounds with a large and heavy rig. Apart from that you could easily pick a decent weather window for a good drill programme.
