Resources Minister Madeleine King has vowed to spearhead the push to mobilise American capital for Australian critical minerals projects, and potentially other projects such as waste processing or even missile production.

Changes to the US Defence Production Act would allow Australia to be listed as a US domestic source. This would potentially give Australian companies access to $US1 billion ($1.5 billion) currently set aside for investments in American and Canadian produced and manufactured goods and services that are deemed so essential they are prioritised as having a wartime level of urgency.
