re: Ann: Strong Results for Tanzanian Mineral... Have to strongly disagree with you tobyjack. No natural graphite can be used without chemical treatment and the question should be "whose LARGE flake graphite can be upgraded to >99.9% purity with chemical treatment". Syrah's can. Size does matter. The price is going to fall. It has to , amongst other factors, to enable batteries and fuel cells to take off. The bonus is the vanadium. In fact it's more than a bonus: the price of vanadium has fluctuated dramatically and the battery and steel makers have indicated that a steady price of approx $15/kg will enable its use to substantially increase. Most of the vanadium will be used in steel and the steel makers will make sure that the SYR's graphite has a market (refractories, etc).
The battery makers will use the vanadium in Lithium Vanadium Phosphate cathodes and spherical graphite or xGNP/silicon anodes. xGNP is exfoliated graphite nanoplatelets which, when combined with silicon, produces anodes which have 4 times the capacity of spherical graphite and it's already commercial. And then there is vanadium redox flow battery which looks like the winner for large scale storage. It uses vanadium and graphite.
