This is true but it's much bigger than just the cycle....
Something to pay attention to is the macro trends at play in the specific industries in question, not just the economy. Whilst the economy is a very important component (as you say, no money no buying) what's in play globally is
a) boomers have cash and are spending more, b) those able to buy new cars are leaning towards EVs, c) EVs are taking a larger and larger share of the car market, with China's numbers growing month on month despite a slowing economy
Nickel, copper, lithium, etc are part of the growth ingredients for the transition that's underway. If there's no recession then I believe investing in these areas is a pay day. If there is recession, you can still too very well as big players put the foundations in for the coming boom.
And irrespective of that.... If you're plaguing in the micro cap space and your company hits something interesting, macro economics are a somewhat moot point. Especially when you have $35m in your account
