That's a great question Nammuldi, and probably TAR director David Chapman is best placed to comment because much earlier in his career he worked for WMC (the company that discovered Olympic Dam) back in the mid-70's.

When I first heard of Olympic Dam (Roxby Downs) it wasn't well understood about the significance of an association between hematite to (predominantly ) copper-gold deposits (ie now recognised IOCG style mineralisation) (although Olympic Dam has multi-economic minerals, esp including Uranium), and subsequently the style of mineralisation was recognised with the also excessive depths along the same structural setting to Olympic Dam, Carapateena and Prominent Hill. Thus Flinders, which i understand had mine workings dating back more than 100 years, still having similar textures and considered to be a granitic breccia in association with hematite flooding of lithilogies, is thought to have mineralisation at surface, but also a sign of greater potential at depths. It seems it being at surface may have resulted in it being overlooked for its potential (despite very exciting preliminary grab sampling etc by StraightLine/TAR).

TAR did commence an aircore drilling programme a couple of years ago, but were stopped early on after discussion with the aboriginal guardians.
