I know one thing for sure is vacuum loss is extremely easy to detect and very accurate.
If you put a pin prick in a aft pressure bulk head the vacuum sensor should pick it up, before it becomes a catastrophic crack, even one or two millimetres and the vacuum would be well and truely be lost. I've seen cracks in injector pipes that aren't even visible to the naked eye that were easy to detect using a simple suction test.
I think games are being played, maybe the FAA or Boeing have seen this shit storm coming and there now trying to get the basic stuff sorted before they introduce new stuff.
The lesson here is if you stuff around for years on end like SMN has a shit storm will eventually land on your door step.
