They are probably playing with other peoples money.
Never underestimate the ineptitude as the reason for other peoples positions. Probably no worse than taking the wrong long position, which is done by all and sundry all the time.
I am mystified by the human need to create conspiracies under every stone.
Not saying absolutely that it’s nothing, just unlikely imho.
