OR, you can apply for a 708(10) exemption and qualify as a 'experienced' investor, and get access, same as 'sophisticated' investors do.
This route you need show you have relevant experience (knowledge/background/work experience) in share and securities investing, but don't have to meet the financial benchmarks that sophisticated investors do.
One of my brokers once said to me the 'sophisticated' investor test is majorly flawed, a person with no financial knowledge, who wins the lottery and has $2.5m in bank can qualify immediately with no tests, whilst a person with $2.499m of assets, and a degree in finance and 25 years working in financial services, does not qualify.... extreme example, but you get the drift.
Thats why the 708(10) exemption introduced. DYOR!
