They could be making a profit on that stockpile right now but need this capital for the other things going on. But on the surface it does look like if they are making profit right now it is slight. I have no information on their actual progress through the stockpile but they say they have ~3-4 more months to go, so it is going to be interesting. I expect it may go for another 2 months longer than they propose due to them digging beneath where they think but will have to wait and see. CR's aren't born out of what happened last Friday, this was thought about since early November and when the new crew arrived and silver price was fairly low.
If you look at what that CR money is going to, a fair chunk is going to exploration which is required for licenses to be kept and hence very important for their capital going forward, in any scenario for investors. If possible and the worst case happens I will be bidding on some of their licenses.
I have no insider knowledge on the company and only evaluate it on the public knowledge. So as it stands right now if there is not a significant rise in silver price within 12 weeks we should be expecting another CR. I think it is expected another plan for the mineral sands is being sent around this time to the EPA so that could also lift it significantly if its positive but that is more of a long shot. One could argue MKR is circling the drain right now and only significant external forces will see a positive outcome for the long holders. I think people buying in around the last months range will likely see a positive return even in worst case situations.
Another thing to consider here is Eggers may have much less net worth than one may think. In previous times at TTR when capital was required he stepped up to the plate but he seems absent here. So unless there is a game he is playing I cannot grasp, why wouldn't he himself snap up the potential? Interesting things people can think about.
