I bought based on the II recommendation. It's my own fault I went in a bit too heavy. Now I'm holding because one thing you can say about FDV is that it at least has geographic diversity. If the Pakistan currency falters a bit, then it shouldn't be too expensive in AUD to keep them on life support and then benefit on the other side. If LATAM falters a bit, then it shouldn't be too expensive in AUD to keep them on life support and then benefit on the other side.
I do agree that Nathan has made a mis-step by adding FDV to the II Income Fund. I'm not aware of any regular dividend at any point in the company history or any stated intention to start one any time soon, so why is it there?
With regards to the II Select Value... one could argue that FDV is at a price that the reward is worth the risk. My problem is that I have a home loan, that's a guaranteed 5.74%p.a. saving by putting my spare cash there, rather than a maybe 200% gain (over how many years?) by putting it here.
