As I understand it, all they needed to do is...
1. Drill out temporary mud plugs from the inlet, observation, and outlet holes (already drilled).
2. Dry out the inlet hole.
3. Insert the ignition tool
4. Tweak the gas inputs
5. Wait for good gas flow from the outlet.
6. Ignite the flare.
Could happen as early as today, most likely tomorrow.
Unless, they have a couple of normal technical issues (nothing ever goes to plan).

But, it's not rocket science; coal burns - it's as simple as that.
