The FDA has begun a expediated (the timelines far too ambitious - 10/12 months down to 1/2 months unrealistic) novel pathway avenue for those treatments:

"Addressing a health crisis in the U.S; Delivering more innovative cures for the American people; Addressing unmet public health needs; Increasing domestic drug manufacturing as a national security issue."

Now I wonder if the prevalence of diabetes (12%) and some of its more serious symptoms of DFU's (6% of sufferers) and diabetes related amputations (about 130,000 people every year in the US) might be considered a health crisis and/or an unmet need, or indeed R327 a more innovative [cheap and simply applied] treatment.....
