A cogent argument for YOW undertaking the capital raise at that price was that was the price they could get? People seem to assume that YOW management said "Well we can probably get 60c but we'll just issue at 50c for the hell of it" - all of management are share/option holders with undoubtedly a larger stake in the company than most posting here so it was in there interest as well to get the best price.

From the quarterly report it looked like YOW was in pretty desperate need of cash so the insto/soph investors were in a relatively strong bargaining position.

Maybe there was nefarious WA-based favours for mates going, maybe there was rank incompetence on the part of YOW management or the people assisting in the raising. Or maybe the insto/soph just weren't as desperate to stump up a couple of million for YOW shares, as everyone on here seems to think they would be, and expected a good deal to do so?
