I personally can not see Nickel, Cobalt, or Lithium going away anytime soon. These new cutting edge batteries (all based on Nickel and Cobalt cathode materials) are becoming quite efficient and "long lived" in their own rights. Now all that is needed is a lot of Nickel and Cobalt............
