    If the mine is going to perform so badly why does Cathay want to buy it???

    Yes - the share price will fall temporarily if this offer is rejected and in the absence of another offer.

    But once further discoveries are made, and a 2nd mine looks likely $1.70 will be proven as CHEAP.

    Think long term.
