I don’t disagree the politics around gas is very strange.
Economically, it is very hard for Australia to produce more gas at prices that compete globally. All our reasonably priced gas is already being exported. New projects can’t produce below $5+Gj.
Regardless of what the politicians wish for, our gas is not globally competitive with US and Canadian resources available.
So our gas market will not be growing very much anytime soon - quite the opposite.
As I said, this doesn’t preclude AJQ from being a good business, but there won’t be a market for large amounts of globally expensive gas. I wouldn’t invest my money on the back of what politicians or unions wish, when you can see the market prices anywhere you care to look.
