As the Chinese havnt moved on this and capping is likely from them, they would also know it's still going to go far north of here in sp. they just didn't want it on a continuous rise past 30 and knocking it down by a third takes the wind out of many SH's enthusiasm.. Chinese love a good deal possibly no more than any of us, but they are often better at achieving it. However I think the purchase price has less to do with it than a proven resource. They have much more to lose if it didn't meet expectations. If they paid a extra billion for it, then that may not be a huge issue. It will increase their MC by a multitude of the purchase price and if they didn't succeed in a TO then it would hit the company hard? Maybe not, and depending on plan B. A 2 bil TO and a 1bill capex is still less than the proposed and withdrawal of a deal with SQM recently.
This next year looks exciting for sure.
