Newport Mining Ltd (ASX:NMN) today announced "encouraging"
reconnaissance rock chip sampling results from the newly staked regional
land holding at the Mata da Corda Phosphate Project (MCPP) in the state
of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
This is the first sampling conducted on the newly acquired areas
where the company completed a large aggressive ground acquisition
program in June of about 300,000 hectares.
New results from Block 5, with grades of 13.01pc and 11.84pc
P2O5 at the surface, highlight the prospective nature of the MCCP.
"The new results from Block 5 are very significant in that the
geological model for targeting new zones has paid immediate dividends,"
managing director Mr Simon Taylor said.
"It opens up a large area including Blocks 5, 6 and 10 where we
have similar rock types with promising thicknesses over large areas in
excess of 50km in length. We will continue to map and rock-chip sample
these zones in preparation for drill-testing," he said.
