Technically, you still retain the same shareholding of the company - it just becomes somewhat more difficult to trade, and shares are often worthless on account of many delisted companies being stone cold broke. My point was that they don't automatically show up as a portfolio loss, so it's considerably less straightforward to utilise the tax offset. It's a pain in the butt, to be honest.
