Theres a few scenarios as i see it.
1) The CR is at a big discount and they cant find anyone to take shares at a discount and then pump it and sell them on market for a quick profit. - IMO unlikely. This is the standard play after all, i doubt theyd have trouble filling the raise at a discount.
2) Everyone they approached to take up the raise arrived at XPED HQ this morning wearing their tin foil hats and no one brought their checkbook because the world as we know it will never be the same......
3) They aren't raising capital because they need the money, they are raising in order to issue a chip/tech giant shares as they want to take a substantial position in the company.
4) They are raising the $$ for an acquisition or product development or something big, hence having to extend the TH in order to sort out the "other thing" (which as
@reu pointed would be necessary as the CR participants would have info the rest of the market doesn't have)
5) They are raising $$ to put in a takeover bid for Intel
All IMO, all speculation. Just pointing out that there can be many reasons.
And whilst Ive followed/held/traded XPE since Raya, i'm not the die hard LT investor type so don't tear my head off about the particulars of the above 5. In my eyes - they have a great "product", they've well and truly passed the hype stage, and now they are into the reality stage. They need to sell/license the product to someone for revenue.
