    As a long my loss is limited to the value I paid but a short's loss in theory is unlimited. Not to mention shorts have to pay a loan fee right? So I don't think it's the same scenario. Throw in margin loans, sometimes you may be forced to sell when the going gets tough.i wouldn't know in detail as I don't short or margin loan myself.
